It was originally intended that HerbFeast would move around the country. Last year’s event was held in Cork and will be again in 2017.

The 2017 event will again be at Scala Retreat and Conference Centre, Blackrock, Cork.

The entrance to Scala is situated directly opposite Blackrock Castle and Observatory. Located at the confluence of the mouth of the River Lee and Lough Mahon, the vista is scenic and a waterside walking route which stretches for several miles begins there.

Please do not drive into Scala. There is ample parking in 2 separate car parks at the water’s edge, 50m around the corner from the Castle.

Arriving in Cork from the M8 or N25 (Dublin and Waterford roads)
One can drive through the Jack Lynch Tunnel (instead of going into the city) and take the first exit (Mahon Point), 1km after coming out of the tunnel.

Turn right off the exit ramp and continue on this road (R852) for 1km until first crossroads. Turn right onto the Skehard Road and continue on it this road for around for 1km until you come to a T-junction take left turn onto Ringmahon Road. After about 400m, take your first right turn onto Castle Road. As you are coming up to it there will be playing pitches with a green metal fence in front of them all along on your right. The left turn onto Castle Road follows along the line of the playing pitches. Scala is about 600m further on this road. First you will come to the entrance of 2 separate car parks along the water. Park in one of these and walk the road till coming round the bend to the Castle and Scala entrance is directly opposite.

Coming from Cork City Centre.

Starting from the side of the main bus station, head south. Cross over the first bridge and turn left onto Albert Quay. About 50m further follow road right around bend onto Victoria Rd. At the roundabout take 1st exit, Center Park Road. Drive straight along this road ignoring any turns for just over 1km until hitting a T-Junction at the water and turn right onto the Marina Road (However do not go this way if you are in a van with a higher roof as there is a low bar at the end of Marina Road). Stay on this road that runs along the water for almost 2km. At the end, there’s a bend to the right that goes into a T-junction. Here you turn left and stay on Castle Road for about 1km until Blackrock Castle. Park just around the bend after castle. If that car park is full there is another one a bit further down.
